In many ways, The Crown Inn, epitomises the best of all worlds. Steeped in history – it is National Heritage Grade II listed and over 400 years old in parts – beautifully complemented by Ilse Crawford’s sleek modern design, contemporary comforts like air conditioning and the most comfortable mattresses many of our guests have ever slept on. Soon after arriving you’ll realise it’s no wonder Old Amersham, and The Crown in particular, has been chosen as the location for much filming over the years. Most famously, Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell spent a night in one of our Courtyard Suites in “Four Weddings and a Funeral”. The beating heart of Old Amersham, which itself benefits from a truly rural feel, being surrounded by the idyllic Chiltern hills but still a mere 45 minutes by train to central London, we are spoilt by all the choice of dining you could wish for: from casual pub grub to Michelin starred fine-dining at the Artichoke or join us for coffee & cake in our cosy bar! Come and explore the stories The Crown has to tell, visit Amersham’s fantastic museum or extensive collection of boutique shops on the High Street, all within easy walking distance; Go walking in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; Use us as a base for day trips to London, or an event at Wembley; Or just relax in sophisticated luxury so you can feel refreshed when you reluctantly return to the real world.
