Amersham Museum
Travel through time, just across the street!
Based largely in a medieval hall house, Amersham Museum explores life in the town’s past through intriguing objects and local stories. Sit at the Tudor dinner table, relax in the 1930s living room, or listen to stories in Ron Haddock’s 1960s record shop. Investigate our timeline display from fossils to dolls houses, and medieval tiles to historical maps. Visit our changing exhibition programme, join a guided walk, take part in an activity session, or wander through our medicinal herb garden.
Amersham Museum, 49-51 High Street, Old Amersham HP7 0DP
Open Wednesdays to Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays, 12noon to 4.30pm.
Walking
We are so lucky to be in such a central location yet with the added benefit of being situated in the midst of the idyllic Chiltern Hills. We have tried and tested some beautiful countryside walks for you to try out! We have walking maps available for you at reception.
Brewery Tours
“This is more like it!” Buckinghamshire is home to a number of really cool real ale breweries, vineyards and even a Kombucha brewery. (Please check with the brewery itself that it is business as usual due to COVID)
For the Foodies
We’ve got so many recommendations for the foodies! If you fancy Michelin star dining or something quick and delicious. We’re home to an incredible British pub restaurant and we have some great neighbours too! The Artichoke across the road is a Michelin star family business with great, innovative tasting menus. Pluma and the Griffin are also very popular!
London
We’re very lucky to be so close to Central London. Old Amersham is located at the end of the Metropolitan Line, 50 minutes from London and 25 minutes from Heathrow by car, with easy access to the M40. There are regular and direct trains and tubes from Amersham to London Marylebone taking 35 minutes.
